Episode 2: Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) and The Roswell Incident

Join Natalie and Natalie as they explore this touchstone of the Alien genre: Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1997), directed by Steven Spielberg. This seminal work enshrined many of the tropes and themes that permeate the rest of the genre, and is an essential science fiction watch.

hello nathalies, i continue to be entranced by your excellent pod cast and thank you for making it. this one inspired me to leave a comment! i hope that it is Okay. here it is!
    – does music theory nathalie have any thoughts about québécois “sound of the summer” Angine de Poitrine? they seem Committed To The Bit of being aliens, and while i can hear that they are playing “too many” notes, it’s not that challenging to recognise as human music. how does what they’re doing relate to nathalie’s ideas about alien harmonic systems, if at all?
